Nicosia, Cyprus. Former supreme court judge Michalakis Christodoulou said he knew the woman referred to as “Sandy”, a central figure in allegations raised by Makarios Drousiotis, and said he will give his account to police while rejecting claims of wrongdoing.
Acquaintance and planned police statement
Speaking on Alpha TV, Christodoulou said he became acquainted with the woman between September 2020 and autumn 2021. He declined to provide details before making a formal statement, describing his involvement as supportive.
“I tried to support her like a father on some issues that are not for publicity,” he said.
Christodoulou said both his relationship with the woman and any messages exchanged would be addressed with investigators. “As I will give a statement to the police and about the messages we exchanged, I don’t want to give details,” he said, adding that “my cell phone and everything are at their disposal.”
Claims of being misled and planned complaints
Christodoulou said he may have been misled. “This seems to be the case in retrospect,” he said when asked whether the woman had taken advantage of him.
He also said he, his wife and his eldest daughter intend to file complaints with police over what he described as false information about his family and the alleged fabrication of documents.
“These serious allegations that are imprinted on the public are likewise weighing on my own mind. Why? Why me, why now? With all this fabrication, there is not even a trace of authenticity,” he said.
What details will police focus on when reviewing Christodoulou’s statement and any messages he referenced?
