Four arrested in nationwide police operations as traffic and premises checks intensify

Nicosia, Cyprus. Police said four people were arrested during nationwide policing operations carried out on Saturday night. The operation included traffic checks and inspections of individuals and premises.


Arrests and alleged offences

Police said arrests were made for offences including illegal stay in the Republic and illegal employment.

Traffic checks and impounded vehicles

During extensive traffic checks, police impounded 11 vehicles. Two drivers tested positive in preliminary roadside checks for driving under the influence of drugs, while 10 others were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Vehicles and individuals inspected

Police said that during the overnight operation officers stopped 366 vehicles for inspection and checked a total of 442 individuals.

Premises inspections and reports filed

Authorities carried out 52 inspections of premises, resulting in 26 reports being filed as part of efforts to tackle unlawful activity.

Traffic violations and ongoing investigations

Police reported 132 traffic violations during the checks, with 11 cases still under investigation. Officers also conducted 160 breathalyser tests for alcohol, with 10 drivers returning positive results.
