The spokesman of the government Mr. Nicos Christodoulides stated that “all parties to the negotiations shall take responsibility in order to overcome the disagreements and to achieve positive results. The status-quo, however, cannot be an acceptable outcome for neither of the two sides”.

Mr. Christodoulides also added that lack of unity became apparent not only at international level, but also inside the Turkish community. “This must not affect the negotiations. The dialogue must be resumed in Geneva” – he clarified.

Earlier, the UN Special Advisor Espen Barth Eide met with the two leaders in order to resume the negotiations.
