Nicosia, Cyprus. Hermes Airports reported a decline in passenger traffic in April 2026 while maintaining stable air connectivity across Cyprus. The operator released the figures following public discussion on tourism trends.
April arrivals and load factors
Hermes Airports said April 2026 recorded a 16 per cent decrease compared with April 2025, corresponding to approximately 95,000 fewer arriving passengers. Aircraft load factors averaged 76 per cent, down from 83 per cent in the same month last year.
Summer season schedule adjustments
For the summer season from April to October, the company said airlines have already implemented adjustments to their flight schedules. Overall, seat capacity has been reduced by no more than 5 per cent, equivalent to around 600,000 fewer available seats, despite plans for expanded programmes later in September.
Hermes Airports said passenger arrivals for the summer period are expected to decline by around 9 per cent, representing roughly 450,000 fewer travellers.
Recent trends and key markets
The company cited encouraging signs in recent weeks, particularly since April 20, when arrival load factors improved to between 80 per cent and 85 per cent. It added that key tourism markets such as the United Kingdom and Poland are performing strongly, with load factors exceeding 90 per cent.
Connectivity remains robust
Despite the downturn in passenger numbers, Hermes Airports said Cyprus’ air connectivity remains robust, with 54 airlines connecting the island to 165 destinations across 42 countries.
