Hunters’ Movement candidate Stefanos Rousou Roskos condemns defacing of election banner

Chlorakas, Cyprus. Hunters’ Movement parliamentary election candidate Stefanos Rousou Roskos on Monday condemned the defacing of a banner advertising his candidacy and said the incident had been recorded by a nearby camera.

Candidate condemns vandalism

Roskos said the vandalism was “unacceptable” and that such actions “do not scare us” and “do not stop us”. He said they made him and his campaign more determined, adding that he would continue the effort “with dignity and determination” with the goal of securing a seat in parliament for Paphos and for the Hunters’ Movement.

He said he would not engage in “the descent into the mud and into slander”, adding that he would leave such practices to others.

Claims of repeated targeted incidents

On Sunday, Roskos posted a photograph on social media of a defaced banner he had placed near Chlorakas and said it was not the first time, describing it as a repeated, targeted act. He said banners had been torn up, taken down and repeatedly vandalised.

He said there was a camera in the area and that everything had been recorded. Roskos added that whoever was behind the actions would “pay in full” and “they will not be alone”.

Election date and past candidacy

Roskos said the electorate would “give its answer” on May 24, when the election is held, and that “then, some will understand that respect and purity in the fight is strength, not weakness”.

Roskos also ran for election in 2021 on Elam’s ballot and won 719 votes.
