Nicosia, Cyprus. Independent candidate Marios Tezinis on Wednesday filed his candidacy for the parliamentary elections in the Nicosia district, calling for improvements to Gesy.
Call for changes to emergency care
Tezinis said there is a “major problem” with the service and efficiency of emergency cases. He said his proposal, following consultation with partner doctors, is that private hospitals should be required to have an accident and emergency unit, similar to other medical centres that are part of Gesy.
Cost concerns and consultations
He acknowledged that many may argue the proposal would be costly to implement, but said he is working on it with partners. He added that, if elected, he would also consult doctors’ unions so the project can be implemented without particularly elevated costs.
Election outlook
Polling suggests Tezinis will not win a seat.
