Kouklia, Cyprus. The International Pharos Chamber Music Festival will mark its 25th anniversary with six chamber concerts from May 29 to June 4 at the Royal Manor House in Kouklia. The festival will conclude with an orchestral concert on June 6 at the Pharos Arts Foundation’s open-air venue The Olive Grove in Delikipos.
Programme and venues
The anniversary edition is set to present chamber music across six concerts in Kouklia, featuring 20 international performers. The closing event on June 6 will bring together two festival soloists with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra at The Olive Grove.
Festival debut artists
Artists making their festival debut this year include violinist Anton Sorokow, cellist Claudio Bohórquez, and violinist Boris Belkin. Debut appearances also include pianist Pietro De Maria and pianist Finghin Collins. The festival will also welcome for the first time clarinettist Sharon Kam, horn player Ben Goldscheider, and soprano Anush Hovhannisyan.
Returning performers
Returning artists include cellist Jing Zhao, violinist Elly Suh, and violinist and violist Yura Lee. The festival will also feature the return of Cypriot pianist Christos Fountos and bassoonist Mavroudes Troullos, as well as double-bassist Niek de Groot and pianist Enrico Pace.
Core soloists and artistic leadership
The festival’s core soloists include Daishin Kashimoto, festival Artistic Director Alexander Chaushian, violinist Fabiana D’Auria, and violists Diemut Poppen and Samuel Barsegyan.
Gala concert details
After the Kouklia chamber concerts, the festival will conclude in Delikipos with a gala concert featuring violinist Boris Belkin and pianist Finghin Collins with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra. The side-by-side performance will be conducted by Yiorgos Kountouris.
