Tehran, Iran. Iran’s top joint military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed to vessel traffic, according to the state news agency Mehr.
Closure announcement
The command said the move was being taken in response to what it described as violations of a ceasefire agreement by the United States and Israel.
Warning of further action
It described the closure as the “first step” in response to alleged breaches of commitments and said further measures would be taken if what it called “aggression” continued.
