Istanbul, Turkey. Three flights from Istanbul to Tehran were cancelled on Friday, according to data from Istanbul Airport. No reason for the cancellations was immediately given.

Cancelled flights listed by airport data

Istanbul Airport data showed the cancellations included a Turkish Airlines flight scheduled to depart at 10:15 p.m. (1915 GMT), as well as an ATA Airlines flight and a Qeshm Air flight.

Turkish Airlines statement

Turkish Airlines spokesperson Yahya Ustun said on X: “We do not have any flight cancellations. Our flights operated in daytime conditions continue as planned.”

Regional context

The U.S. has a massive military presence in the Middle East, awaiting President Donald Trump’s order to attack Iran if there is no satisfactory result in talks with Tehran over its nuclear programme.

What impact, if any, do you think regional tensions could have on commercial air travel routes?
