Nicosia, Cyprus. Justice minister Costas Fitiris said he received a letter from Ioanna Photiou, widely known as Annie Alexui, seeking guidance on how to proceed with a deposition regarding allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse. He said instructions on the next steps would be provided shortly.
Letter received and response planned
Speaking on Alpha TV, Fitiris said Photiou asked how she could inform authorities about events that happened in the past. He confirmed receipt of the letter and said she would receive an answer on what she should do.
Authorities seek formal statement
Authorities are seeking a formal statement from Photiou concerning public allegations she made against senior police officers, state officials and figures she has linked to organised crime. Fitiris said investigations cannot be conducted through social media posts alone and require written statements and testimonies.
Procedures and Photiou’s reported location
Fitiris said Photiou had been offered three ways to submit her complaints, aimed at securing her cooperation while respecting legal procedures. He added that actions were already being taken and that the aim was to obtain her testimony and any evidence she says she holds for investigation through appropriate procedures. Photiou is currently believed to be in Russia, where she has said she has been granted asylum.
