Paphos, Cyprus. A kiosk owner in Kato Paphos has paid a €3,100 out-of-court settlement after customs officers seized 377 packs of nicotine pouches allegedly imported and sold without the required licences.
Coordinated operation
The operation took place on July 13 and involved the Customs Department, the Paphos anti-drug unit (Ykan), Paphos police and the pharmaceutical service.
Officers found nicotine pouch products from various brands at the kiosk.
Licensing violations
Authorities said the products had allegedly been imported and offered for sale without the licences required for the Cypriot market.
They also found that the kiosk owner did not hold the necessary licence to trade or sell legal tobacco products.
Settlement and confiscation
The owner was arrested for customs offences committed in the act, and all nicotine pouches were confiscated.
The owner accepted the €3,100 settlement and agreed in writing to surrender the seized products, which will be destroyed under prescribed procedures, the Customs Department said.
