Nicosia, Cyprus. The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) and the Elpida Charitable Foundation for Children with Cancer and Leukaemia on Wednesday signed a memorandum of cooperation, launching a strategic partnership focused on health, social cohesion and humanitarian support.
The agreement outlines joint initiatives in public awareness, education, humanitarian assistance, medical and psychosocial care, and palliative support.
Partnership objectives
According to the announcement, the memorandum reflects the organisations’ shared commitment to promoting human health, social solidarity and humanitarian assistance.
The cooperation is based on principles including the protection of every person’s right to health, prevention, medical and psychosocial care, and a dignified standard of living without discrimination.
Support for vulnerable groups
The partnership will focus particularly on children with cancer and leukaemia, their families, survivors of serious illnesses and other vulnerable groups.
Keve president Stavros Stavrou said social contribution was an integral part of the chamber’s mission.
“Through this partnership with the Elpida Foundation, we seek to make a meaningful contribution to strengthening initiatives that support children and their families, while at the same time raising awareness within the business community about important issues relating to health and social solidarity,” he said.
Stavrou added that cooperation between public, private and social sector organisations could create added value for society.
Strategic cooperation
Elpida Foundation president Loizos Loizou said the memorandum marked the beginning of an important strategic partnership.
He said the agreement would help strengthen support for children with cancer and leukaemia and their families.
