Bormio, Italy. Cypriot skier Yiannos Kouyoumdjian finished 34th overall in the men’s slalom at the Milano–Cortina Winter Olympics on Monday at the Stelvio ski centre.

Result and timings

Kouyoumdjian recorded a combined time of 1:08.58, improving his overall position after a second run that moved him up the standings. He was 39th after the first run with a time of 1:10.88.

Challenging course conditions

Only 46 of the 96 athletes who started the race completed the opening run, with snowfall and poor visibility contributing to a high number of early exits. Kouyoumdjian completed both runs, gaining ground with a cleaner second descent.

Comparison with prior Olympics and other event

The result improved on Kouyoumdjian’s previous Olympic appearance in Beijing, where he did not complete the first run of the slalom. He finished 64th in the giant slalom on Saturday in Italy, making the slalom his strongest showing of the Games.

Next Cyprus entry

Cyprus’ alpine skiing campaign at Milano–Cortina 2026 is set to conclude later this week, with Andrea Loizidou scheduled to compete in the women’s slalom on Wednesday in Cortina.
