Kuwait says it is confronting Iranian drones amid regional escalation

One Killed As Iran Strikes Kuwait Airport And Diplomatic Missions In Ceasefire Escalation

Kuwait City, Kuwait. Kuwait’s army said it was confronting Iranian drones, without providing details on their number, intended target or the outcome of its response. It was not immediately clear whether the incident was linked to the broader escalation between the United States and Iran.

Hospital evacuation allegation

Iran’s foreign ministry accused the United States of carrying out what it called a “barbaric attack” near Shahid Baqaei Hospital, a children’s cancer treatment centre in Ahvaz in south-western Iran.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said on X that the hospital was evacuated overnight after a US strike on a nearby location. He said the strike caused anxiety and suffering among children receiving treatment and led to the emergency evacuation of 211 chemotherapy patients.

Baghaei compared the incident to Israeli strikes on healthcare facilities and described it as a war crime. The United States had not commented on the allegation.

Iranian warnings and regional tensions

The accusation followed an intensification of US military strikes and an expansion of targets inside Iran in recent days. Iranian state media reported explosions in several northern and southern cities, as well as in areas around Tehran.

Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia told the semi-official Fars news agency that Tehran did not seek confrontation with regional neighbours and Islamic states, saying Iran had pursued cooperative and brotherly relations in the region.

His comments came after another Iranian military official warned that infrastructure across the Middle East could be targeted. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Iranian military’s Khatam al-Anbiya central headquarters, said Iran would retaliate if its infrastructure was targeted, following US President Donald Trump’s threat that US forces could strike Iranian bridges.

Zolfaghari said that “all infrastructure in the region will be crushed” and stated that Iran would not allow US interference in the Strait of Hormuz, which he described as a red line.
