Lakatamia, Cyprus. Lakatamia municipality announced on Thursday that it will open three cooling centres during heatwaves to assist residents and protect the public from extreme temperatures.
The announcement came as Cyprus faced another period of high temperatures, with a yellow weather warning issued for Thursday and inland temperatures forecast to reach 40C.
Cooling centre locations
The centres will be located at the Lakatamia multipurpose centre, the Tseri multipurpose senior services centre and the Lakatamia town hall cafe.
They will operate only on days when heatwave conditions are in effect.
Operating hours
The Lakatamia multipurpose centre will be open from 7.30am to 6pm.
The Tseri multipurpose senior services centre will operate from 9am to 6pm, while the Lakatamia town hall cafe will be open from 8am to 3pm.
