Larnaca conference to address undeclared work and promote fair labour mobility in Europe

Larnaca, Cyprus. The Labour Ministry and the European Labour Authority (ELA) will host a two-day international conference in Larnaca starting May 12 to address undeclared work and promote fair labour mobility across Europe.


Conference marking platform anniversary

The event marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the European Platform to tackle undeclared work, according to an official announcement.

Participants and opening remarks

The conference will include Ministers, senior European Commission officials, and representatives from European Union member states. Delegates will also include members of inspection authorities, social partners, and various European organisations.
The proceedings will open with remarks by ELA Executive Director Cosmin Boiangiu and Labour Minister Marinos Mousiouttas.

Focus of discussions

Discussions will focus on the role of declared work as a prerequisite for fair mobility of workers and the creation of quality jobs. Participants will also explore ways to strengthen cooperation between member states to combat undeclared work within the internal market.

Best practices, assessment, and awards

The summit will facilitate the exchange of best practices and experiences related to labour inspections, law enforcement, and strengthening administrative capacity. Sessions will include an assessment of the decade-long actions taken by the European Platform to tackle undeclared work.
An awards ceremony will also be held to recognise exemplary practices identified by the European Labour Authority.
