Larnaca, Cyprus. Larnaca will host a free outdoor celebration on March 13 after winning the competition for European Capital of Culture 2030, according to the Larnaka 2030 team. The event is set to take place at Zouhouri Square from 6.30pm.
Common Ground Party announced
“On Friday, March 13, Larnaca celebrates the way it deserves,” the team said, describing the event as the “Common Ground Party.” It said the “vision of Larnaka 2030 has become a reality” and called on residents to gather in “joy, emotion and creativity.”
Preparations and programme
Organisers said preparations are under way for an evening intended to unite neighbourhoods and residents, marking what they described as a “glorious occasion” for the town. Entry will be free.
Performers and focus on community
Music groups, bands and ensembles connected to the city, including artists who grew up in Larnaca or were inspired by it, are scheduled to perform. The Larnaka 2030 team said the win belongs to the wider community, adding that the European Capital of Culture 2030 designation represents “a new narrative” for the city and places Larnaca “at the centre of Europe’s cultural landscape.”
Food and drink
Organisers said the event will also feature beers and cocktails inspired by Larnaca.
