Beirut, Lebanon. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam urged Lebanese citizens to act with wisdom and patriotism amid regional developments, warning he would not accept anyone dragging the country into “adventures” that threaten its security and unity.

Call for national unity amid regional developments

In a statement sent to Reuters on Saturday, Salam said that in light of “serious developments unfolding in the region,” he was calling on all Lebanese to place Lebanon and the Lebanese people’s interests above any other consideration.

Warning against “adventures”

“I reiterate that we will not accept anyone dragging the country into adventures that threaten its security and unity,” Salam said.

No party named in statement

Salam did not name any party in the statement, which Reuters described as an indirect message to Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah.
