Leventis museums launch two-week summer programme for children in Nicosia

Nicosia, Cyprus. The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and the AG Leventis Gallery have partnered on a two-week summer programme for children aged six to 12, running from June 22 to July 3. The programme combines art, history and hands-on creative activities.

Programme focus and content

The programme begins with the AG Leventis Gallery’s temporary exhibition, Christoforos Savva: Simple – Complex – Invisible: An Unknown Archive, and also draws on the gallery’s permanent collections and the archive of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia. Organisers said children will explore the history of Cyprus and Nicosia through art and historical documents.

Activities and learning approach

Participants will explore stories of people and places, bring traditions to life and engage with depictions of Nicosia from another era, using Savva’s work and the city’s memory as inspiration. The programme frames history as a starting point for play, expression and creativity.

Guidance and practical details

Sessions will be led by museum educators Mariel Kouveli and Theodora Demetriou, supported by a team of collaborators. Activities include theatre, creative movement, nature-based sessions and visual arts experiences, delivered through an experiential and hands-on approach.

The programme runs Monday June 22 to Friday July 3, from 8am to 2.30pm, in Greek, and costs €300. It will be held at the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and the A. G. Leventis Gallery in Nicosia. Contact: 22-661475, [email protected].
