Limassol, Cyprus. The Limassol district organisation (EOA) said 36 buildings were declared “dangerous” on Monday following inspections carried out in various parts of the island.

Limassol buildings marked with warning stickers

Limassol EOA chairman Yiannis Tsouloftas said EOA members have in recent days marked the buildings with stickers in both English and Greek to warn the public.

Yermasoyia evacuation deadline and legal action

Tsouloftas referred to an evacuation letter sent to residents of an apartment complex in Yermasoyia on Friday, saying the deadline is Monday. He said that if tenants do not vacate their apartments, the organisation will immediately begin legal proceedings to obtain a court order to evacuate the building.

Larnaca survey targets high-risk cases

In Larnaca, the EOA said a similar survey of buildings was carried out to assess the condition of already registered and allegedly dangerous buildings and to review their degree of danger. The EOA said inspections will focus on the most dangerous cases, totalling approximately 15 to 20 buildings in the area deemed “high risk”.
