Limassol police probe alleged attack on 31-year-old driver in Erimi

Erimi, Cyprus. Limassol police are investigating an alleged attack on a 31-year-old driver who reported being targeted by a group on Friday night.


Driver’s account of the incident

According to a police statement issued on Saturday, the man said the incident began after he inadvertently drove into a dead end and encountered a group of hooded youths. He alleged the group reacted aggressively, leading to a confrontation.

The complainant told police that one of the youths threw a firecracker in front of his vehicle, prompting him to leave the area.

Alleged pursuit and damage to vehicle

The driver reported that he was pursued by a group of between 10 and 15 people who began throwing stones at his car, causing extensive damage.

He said he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot before contacting police for assistance.

Police response and ongoing investigation

Officers later accompanied him back to the scene, where significant damage to the car was found and is believed to have been caused during the attack. Police said investigations are ongoing.
