Lumiere Art Gallery to host “CHROMA by Her” group exhibition in Limassol

An Abundance of Fish by Katie Sabry

Limassol, Cyprus. Lumiere Art Gallery will present “CHROMA by Her,” a group exhibition bringing together 10 female painters living and creating in Cyprus, from March 8 to 21. The exhibition is staged on the occasion of International Women’s Day and focuses on femininity, cultural identity and creative coexistence.

Exhibition concept and curatorial focus

“CHROMA by Her” follows last year’s exhibition “HER,” which brought together international artists of different genders and geographic backgrounds. This year’s curatorial approach focuses exclusively on painting and the female creative voice, highlighting women artists shaped by diverse cultural origins who have chosen Cyprus as their place of residence and artistic development.

Theme of colour and artistic approaches

The title “Chroma,” the Greek word for colour, serves as the exhibition’s central conceptual and visual axis. Colour is presented as a carrier of emotion, memory and identity, rather than only a formal element. Through works in oil, acrylic and watercolour, the artists explore relationships between light and matter, intensity and transparency, and gesture and introspection.

Artists featured

The exhibition includes works ranging from bold, expressive gestures to more contemplative and delicate renderings, forming a visual dialogue reflecting both individual journeys and collective presence on the island. Participating artists are Alia Corm, Anna Kozyreva, Carolina Alotus, Francesca Pinoni, Julie Menelaou, Katie Sabry, Kelly Norman, Liubov M, Ludmila Budanov and Sheila Rave.

Recognition and inclusion

“CHROMA by Her” is framed as an act of recognition and inclusion, presenting the participating artists as an active part of Cyprus’ contemporary art scene. The exhibition highlights the female painterly gaze, the power of colour as expression, and the significance of belonging through artistic practice.
