Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus police said a 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged import of seven kilos of cannabis. The arrest followed a drug squad investigation into a courier package that arrived in Cyprus in February.
Investigation and arrest
Police said the inquiry focused on a package delivered by courier that allegedly contained the drugs. Authorities said evidence gathered during the investigation led to a court warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
Search and seized items
Officers detained the suspect on Wednesday afternoon and searched his home, where they found a small quantity of cannabis, mobile phones and other items, which were seized.
Court proceedings
Police said the suspect was taken into custody and is due to appear before the Nicosia district court on Thursday for a remand hearing.
Ongoing inquiry
The drug squad is continuing its investigation, police said.
