Kornos, Cyprus. A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted arson case after a fire broke out near a forest in Kornos on Sunday evening.
Witnesses extinguish fire
Police said the fire started at around 7pm after motorists passing through the area saw two individuals enter a vehicle and leave the location.
The witnesses also noticed a fire in the nearby forest and extinguished it before it could spread further.
Investigation continues
Testimony gathered during the investigation led police to obtain an arrest warrant for the 26-year-old on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted arson and other related offences.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Larnaca district court on Wednesday, when police will seek his remand. Investigations are continuing.
