Masked group forces entry into Limassol home; 19-year-old arrested as investigation continues

Limassol, Cyprus. Police in Limassol are investigating a Friday night incident in which a masked armed group forced entry into a home in the Ayia Fyla area. A 19-year-old was arrested on Saturday in connection with the case.


Incident reported in Ayia Fyla

Police said they received information at around 9.30pm about a fight at a residence in Ayia Fyla and dispatched officers to the scene.

Residents told police that several unknown individuals knocked on the door, after which seven men wearing hoods and carrying weapons pushed their way inside.

Damage reported and suspect restrained

The occupants reported that the group attempted to attack them and caused damage to parts of the property.

During the confrontation, the residents said they pushed the intruders out of the house and restrained one of the alleged attackers.

Police said the group then attempted to force their way back inside and damaged two windows before fleeing the area.

Arrest and ongoing investigation

Police said that by the time officers arrived, most of the suspects had escaped.

A young man identified in connection with the case was arrested on Saturday under a court warrant and taken into custody to assist with investigations.

Police said efforts are continuing to identify the remaining individuals believed to have been involved in the attack.
