Akrotiri, Cyprus. A motorcyclist died in a traffic accident in Akrotiri on Saturday after a motorcycle collided with a car, British Bases authorities said. His female passenger was injured, and the driver of the car was arrested.
Collision and immediate response
British bases police said the crash occurred at around 1.30pm when a car collided with a motorcycle. The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Injured passenger taken to hospital
The female passenger was taken to Limassol general hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Road closure and investigation
The road was closed to traffic and diversions were put in place as officers carried out measurements, vehicle checks and took witness statements to establish the exact circumstances of the crash. Police confirmed that both vehicles remained at the scene for forensic inspection.
