Nicosia, Cyprus. A new series of murals and public events will take place in the Agioi Omologites neighbourhood as part of the “Have You Seen It? – Art Around Town” event series starting Sunday for one week. The programme brings together three local artists to create site-specific murals and encourage discussion around art in public space.
Week-long programme and free public access
The programme launches with a full day of events and continues throughout the week. All activities are free and open to the public, including community BBQs, exhibitions, murals, guided neighbourhood walks, and discussions focused on art and urban space.
New murals by three local artists
The initiative features new mural works by Simone Philippou, Milenko Stevanovic and Twenty Three. Philippou’s mural reflects on the relationship between the neighbourhood and its natural surroundings, serving as a shrine to a missing tree and introducing greenery from the nearby linear park into Agioi Omologites.
Stevanovic, whose work has been exhibited across Belgrade, Florence and Tokyo, draws from everyday observations and places familiar moments into the street setting. Twenty Three, whose work across stencil, installation and participatory practices is visible around Nicosia including murals on Trikoupi Street and opposite the new municipality, will focus on micromobility and how children move through and experience the city.
Opening day schedule includes BBQ and guided walks
The initiative begins with a BBQ lunch at OPU House, with OPU House organising the event along with IN TOTO. After the 1.30pm lunch, a Kids ’CurioCity Walk will welcome children as young as three and their parents to explore the Agioi Omologites area.
A second CurioCity Walk for older participants will take place at 4pm the same day. Both walks will be led in Greek and English and will focus on conversations around art, graffiti and the city, guiding participants to observe and reflect on their urban environment.
A post-walk conversation is scheduled at IN TOTO at 5.30pm, while a private CurioCity Walk for pre-schoolers of the local primary school will also take place as part of OPU’s efforts to engage young people with their local environment.
Exhibition and limited-edition prints
The day’s agenda includes an exhibition opening at IN TOTO between 4pm and 8pm. The exhibition will run from March 30 to April 4 and will include limited-edition screenprints of the Agioi Omologites murals and a short documentary on their making and the role of art in shaping the neighbourhood.
Prints will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting neighbourhood initiatives. The programme is listed as taking place March 29-April 4 in Agioi Omologites, Nicosia, with free admission, and a Facebook event titled “Είδες το; Art Around Town.”
