Nicosia, Cyprus. The 2026 Nicosia International Festival will present more than 22 productions over 50 days, from September 12 to November 1, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre and venues across the capital. The programme includes theatre, contemporary dance, music and interdisciplinary performance by artists from Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon, France, Ireland and Spain.
New performance spaces
The Municipal Theatre of Nicosia will remain the festival’s main venue and will introduce two new performance spaces.
The Studio will host intimate and experimental productions, while On Stage will allow audiences to view performances from the stage of the Main Hall. The theatre’s square, colonnades and gardens will also host artistic interventions and public events.
City-wide programme
Events will also take place at the Municipal Gardens, THOC New Stage, To Erma Bookshop & Café and Theatre Square. Cafés, bars and restaurants across Nicosia will serve as gathering places for artists, audiences and visitors during the festival.
The programme includes productions being presented in Cyprus for the first time, new commissions, original Cypriot works, revivals of significant Cypriot productions, and family-friendly and non-verbal performances.
Cypriot artists
Seven productions have been selected through the festival’s open call for Cypriot artists. The festival said the selected projects will be presented alongside international productions.
The programme also includes works by women artists, whose productions form part of the festival’s agenda.
