Foot and mouth measures in Dhali

Limassol, Cyprus. No new cases of foot and mouth disease have been detected so far, veterinary association chairman Demetris Epaminondas said on Tuesday. He said all tests carried out on Sunday and Monday returned negative results, with another batch of results still pending.

Testing and results

Epaminondas said no positive results had been recorded to date. He said authorities were awaiting the next batch of test results after negative findings from tests conducted on Sunday and Monday.

Further testing in Limassol

He said further testing was expected to take place in Limassol in the coming days.

Vaccine shipments and distribution planning

Epaminondas said vaccine shipments had arrived and were awaiting customs clearance. He said authorities would finalise plans for distribution once the clearance process was completed.

He added that the plan was to carry out vaccinations in areas where they had not yet been completed.

Culling operations

Epaminondas said culling operations had been completed. He said the only outstanding decision concerned a small livestock unit housing the traditional red cattle breed.
