North’s annual inflation hits 39.5% at end-2025 as tourist arrivals rise 17.2%

Nicosia, Cyprus. Annual inflation in the north stood at 39.5% at the end of 2025, while tourist arrivals increased by 17.2% compared to the previous year, the Kuzey Kibris Turk Cumhuriyeti Merkez Bankasi said on Friday.


Price increases by sector

According to the bank, restaurants and hotels recorded the highest annual price increase at 66.8%, followed by the education sector at 56.1% and entertainment and culture at 48.9%.

The inflation rate stood at 3.39% as of December 2025.

Tourist arrivals and departures

Overall tourist arrivals increased by 17.2% compared to the previous year, reaching 2.6 million in 2026.

In the last quarter of 2025, 616,955 arrivals were Turkish citizens, while 84,934 visitors arrived from third countries.

Departures of Turkish Cypriots through land borders increased by 2.1% compared to 2024.
