NYPD releases bodycam footage of fatal shooting at Grand Central station after machete attack

New York, United States. The NYPD released bodycam footage showing officers fatally shooting 44-year-old Anthony Griffin after he stabbed three people with a machete on April 11. The video was recorded at New York’s Grand Central station.

The footage shows police repeatedly ordering Griffin to drop the large knife. Officer Ryan Giuffre can be heard saying, “Get on the ground, please,” and adding, “Nobody wants to hurt you. We can talk about this. Sit down. Buddy, I’m not going to ask you again, please. We’re going to help you.”

According to the video, Griffin refused to comply and moved aggressively toward an officer. The officer fired two shots, and Griffin fell to the ground. Griffin reportedly replied, “I am Lucifer,” before moving threateningly, leading to the fatal shots.

Before the confrontation with police, Griffin stabbed three elderly people. An 85-year-old man suffered a deep head wound, a 65-year-old man sustained cuts to the head, and a 70-year-old woman was stabbed in the shoulder.
