Oev establishes committee on education, training and attraction of young talent

Nicosia, Cyprus. The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (Oev) has established a new committee on education, training and the attraction of young talent. Oev said the initiative is part of its broader strategy to strengthen workforce skills and support the competitiveness of Cypriot businesses.

Oev said the initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to reinforce the capabilities of the country’s human capital and to ensure that companies in Cyprus remain competitive in a rapidly evolving economic environment. According to the announcement, the committee is composed of representatives from businesses and organisations operating in key sectors of the economy.

The committee’s mission is to contribute to the development of modern policies and practices in education, training and the attraction of new talent that respond to labour market needs and align with European developments in the field of skills.

First meeting and leadership

The committee recently held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Yangos Hadjiyiannis. During the meeting, the main pillars of the committee’s work were presented and discussed.

The committee’s priorities include highlighting education and training as a central pillar for strengthening business competitiveness. It will also focus on improving the attractiveness of vocational education and training, promoting lifelong learning and the continuous upgrading of skills among the workforce, and strengthening the connection between businesses and educational institutions.
