Paphos, Cyprus. Police seized more than €20,000 in cash and arrested four people during a raid on a restaurant in Paphos old town on Sunday night. Officers said 65 people were found inside premises operating illegally.

Arrests and seized items

Police said a 42-year-old man, described as managing the property, was arrested after an offensive weapon was found in his possession. In a statement, police said an iron fist and €3,000 were found and confiscated, for which no satisfactory explanation was given.

Three other suspects, aged 45, 30 and 29, were arrested after police found cash in their possession amounting to €3,000, €12,810 and €5,000 respectively.

Licensing and charges

According to police, documents related to the premises indicated the restaurant was operating without the necessary certification or licences for selling alcohol or playing loud music. Police said the 63-year-old owner was subsequently charged in writing.
