Paphos, Cyprus. Bus stops in Paphos are being upgraded, beginning in tourist areas, acting mayor Angelos Onisiforou said on Tuesday. The work will continue gradually in other parts of the municipality until all bus stops are restored and modernised.
Criticism from tourism board
In September, the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism criticised the municipality’s bus stops for having what it described as “an unacceptable and third-world image.” It said some stops did not have a cover or a bench, while others had made the area “the laughing stock of the planet.”
Earlier appeal
The tourism board called on the authorities in September to address the issues before the tourism season in February.
