Paphos family appeals for stem cell donor for Lucas Adamou after cancer returns

Paphos, Cyprus. A family has made an urgent appeal for a compatible stem cell donor for youngster Lucas Adamou, who has been battling cancer for two years and now needs an allogeneic transplant.

Urgent need for a compatible donor

The family said the disease has recently returned for the third time and that an allogeneic stem cell transplant is urgently needed. They said the transplant requires finding a compatible donor.

How to take part in donor checks

The family said healthy people aged between 18 and 45 can help through checks being carried out at the Diagnosis Laboratory Centre opposite Paphos Home Market. The procedure involves a swab from the inside of the cheek and is without pain.

Donor registration

The family said that anyone found not to be compatible with Lucas will have their details placed on the register and may be able to save someone else’s life.
