Paphos police warn of safety risk from roadside ditch between Emba and Tala

Paphos, Cyprus. A two-metre-long ditch beside the road linking the Paphos district villages of Emba and Tala poses a serious risk to motorists, Paphos police said on Thursday.

Police call for action

Paphos traffic police said they had called on the Emba village council to address the situation immediately.

Police said no action had yet been taken by the village council and that Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis had also been informed.

Repairs proposed

Emba mukhtar Marios Metaxas told Politis that more extensive repairs were needed because the road had been displaced rather than simply subsided.

He said the road should be widened in the direction of Tala and safety railings installed, as a stormwater drainage ditch runs alongside the affected section.

Metaxas said the village council’s crews could carry out the work or a tender could be issued for a company to complete the repairs.
