Paralimni mayor outlines 2026 project pipeline led by €6.7 million multi-storey car park

Paralimni, Cyprus. Paralimni-Deryneia mayor Giorgos Nikolettos said a €6.7 million multi-storey car park in Paralimni heads a list of projects expected to begin in 2026. He described 2026 as a year of “development intensity” for the municipality.

Planned works and funding

Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency on Monday, Nikolettos said projects totalling around €40 million will address social policies, sports, cultural initiatives, urban renewal, traffic infrastructure and sustainable development. He added that since 2025 the Paralimni municipality has spent over €10 million on public works.

Multi-storey car park progress

Nikolettos said the multi-storey parking project is already 35 per cent completed and is expected to alleviate parking issues in the urban centre, providing around 300 parking spots.

Coastal walkway and traffic projects

Nikolettos said the fourth phase of the coastal pedestrian walkway will be implemented at a cost of €6 million. He also said road safety and traffic congestion relief projects are being promoted, including a roundabout on the Protaras–Cape Greco Avenue, along with additional traffic lights and road resurfacing.

Panoramic elevator and local projects

Nikolettos said a panoramic elevator will be installed at the chapel of Prophet Elias, describing it as a unique viewing point for the area. He added that in Deryneia, a cultural centre will be created along with a green spot and an upgrade of the Pavlos Liasidis park, while in Acheritou work on the €820,000 linear park is at an advanced stage.
