Paralimni, Cyprus. Mayor Giorgos Nikolettos said on Monday that projects worth more than €10 million have been completed across Paralimni, funded by the state, the deputy tourism ministry and the Famagusta tourism company.

Funding and development focus

Nikolettos said the works reflected “balanced development, social cohesion and an upgrade in the quality of life of our citizens”.

Key projects in Paralimni

He highlighted the upgrade to Kapparis avenue as the flagship project, costing €6.43 million and financed 80 per cent by the state and 20 per cent by the municipality.
He also pointed to the completion of the Paralimni children’s club, a €2 million social infrastructure project which he said “strengthens the family and childcare”.
Nikolettos also confirmed the completion of two additional monuments honouring Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomou almost 30 years after their deaths at the Deryneia roadblock, describing them as “a work of memory and historical responsibility”.
Additional works included new signage along the coastal pedestrian route and upgrades to green spaces such as Ayios Georgios park and Ayia Varvara park.

Infrastructure projects in Deryneia municipality

In the Deryneia municipality, Nikolettos said two major infrastructure projects were completed.
The new municipal market, costing €1.5 million, was funded mainly through European and state funds.
The Sotiras road project was completed at a cost of €13.5 million, with 80 per cent state funding.
He also said the amphitheatre water park was upgraded with full funding from the deputy tourism ministry, while the Deryneia community centre, a €465,000 project, was fully financed by social welfare services.

Works in Acheritou

Nikolettos said a new events hall was completed in Acheritou and Saint George’s chapel was upgraded with full support from the Famagusta tourism company.
