Paphos, Cyprus. A cold and windy spell along the coastal path by Paphos’ old harbour led to a stop at Pingouino Café for warmth, drinks and an early dinner. The café was busy with a mix of locals and international visitors.


Stop at Pingouino Café

After seeking shelter from strong winds and rain, visitors chose Pingouino Café on Poseidonos Avenue. The venue was nearly packed, and the atmosphere and menu prompted a longer stay than initially planned.

Menu and starters

The café’s specialty includes waffles and crepes, grilled items, sandwiches and burgers. A traditional village salad was ordered and customised to exclude black olives, and it was served with toasted pitta bread and a bottle of olive oil on the side.

Main dishes and prices

A crispy chicken burger priced at €9.90 was served with fries and coleslaw. A pint of local lager was listed at €3.90. A chicken kebab was priced at €13.50, and the side of fries was replaced on request with a jacket potato served wrapped in foil, along with butter, greens, half a lemon and tzatziki.

Dessert

Dessert included a waffle topped with white chocolate sauce, fresh-cut strawberries and vanilla ice cream.
