Police arrest 27-year-old suspect after pursuit involving firearm discharge in Larnaca

Larnaca, Cyprus. Police arrested a 27-year-old wanted in connection with burglaries and thefts in Larnaca on Saturday afternoon after a pursuit in which a firearm was discharged. Authorities said the arrest followed the location of a vehicle reported stolen.


Vehicle located in Livadia

According to the police communications branch, officers located a vehicle reported stolen at around 4pm in the Livadia area of Larnaca.

Collision during attempted escape

Police said that when the driver became aware of the police presence, he tried to start the vehicle and flee. Officers said he reversed and collided with a police vehicle.

Firearm used to stop vehicle

Police said the driver was immobilised and arrested, adding that a service firearm was used to stop the vehicle.

Court appearance expected

The suspect is expected to appear before a court on Sunday for the issuance of a remand order.
