Nicosia, Cyprus. A 30-year-old police cadet was arrested on Thursday in connection with an investigation into the illegal possession of anabolic substances. Police said he was detained after a court-approved search at his residence uncovered 69 vials of a suspected anabolic substance.
Administrative leave ordered
The cadet will be placed on administrative leave on the instructions of police chief Themistos Arnaoutis.

The arrest took place at the cadet’s home in Nicosia. Police said the detention was made to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case involving the illegal possession of anabolic substances.
Legal framework
Under Cypriot law, the use of anabolic steroids without a valid prescription is illegal. Unauthorised possession, distribution or sale can result in fines or imprisonment.
