Nicosia, Cyprus. Police have cautioned the public following complaints about phone calls in which perpetrators present themselves as Revolut operators. Callers reportedly ask for personal information under the pretext of protecting victims’ accounts.
How the calls are described
Police said the individuals making the calls claim they are contacting people on behalf of someone else and allege that money is being stolen from the recipient’s account. They then request personal information, saying it is needed to protect the account.
Protection procedures advised
Police asked the public not to answer phone calls from unknown numbers, not to share personal information with someone who claims to be from Revolut, and to verify callers’ identities by contacting official customer support and their banking institutions.
What to do if contacted
Police said anyone who receives such a call should immediately inform their banking institution to prevent unwanted use of their data and available cash balances.
