Rain and thunderstorms to continue through Sunday; snow on Troodos peaks at 27cm

Nicosia, Cyprus. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue on Thursday, with snow on Troodos’ peaks remaining at 27cm. Rainy weather is forecast to persist until Sunday, with dust in the atmosphere expected over the weekend.


Thursday outlook

Thursday is set to start overcast with isolated showers, with thunderstorms and hailstones expected later in the day, as well as snow or sleet in the mountains.

Winds will be a northern gentle to moderate breeze of 3 to 4 Beaufort, turning later to a southwest to northwest moderate to fresh breeze of 4 to 5 Beaufort, over slight to moderate seas.

Temperatures will reach 18C inland, 20C along the coast and 9C in the highest mountains.

Thursday night conditions

Thursday night will be cloudy, particularly in the west, with isolated showers.

Winds will be a southwest to northwest gentle to moderate breeze of 3 to 4 Beaufort, and along the coast a moderate to fresh breeze of 4 to 5 Beaufort, over slight to moderate seas.

Temperatures will drop to 8C inland, 12C along the coast and 3C in the highest mountains, where frost is expected to form.

Outlook through Sunday

Clouds and rain are forecast to continue on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday is expected to bring thunderstorms and snow or sleet on Troodos.

Temperatures on Saturday are expected to rise slightly, before dropping again on Sunday and remaining close to the seasonal average.
