Injuries and airlift plan
The fire brigade said it was in communication with the hiking team and its leader, who reported that four members were injured and would need to be airlifted. A Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) helicopter was dispatched and was to land at a nearby safe location.
Resources deployed
A total of 31 firefighters from the 1st and 6th Special Disaster Management Units and the 9th Special Forest Operations Unit were deployed, along with the Ikaros drone unit of the Peloponnese and a JRCC helicopter.
