Rialto Theatre announces March programme in Limassol

Shakespeare's Twelfth Night will be staged by Thoc

Limassol, Cyprus. Rialto Theatre has announced its programme for March, with a schedule including dance, music and theatre performances. The month’s calendar also includes a European cinema music event and local productions.


Cyprus Choreography Showcase opens the month

The 4th Cyprus Choreography Showcase will take place on March 6, 7 and 8, presented by the deputy ministry of cuolture’s department of contemporary culture in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre. Cyprus-based choreographers will present work to audiences, artistic directors, programmers and representatives of international contemporary dance festivals invited for this purpose.
Participants include Panos Malactos, Petros Konnaris and Rodia Vomvolou, Harry Koushos, Evie Demetriou, Milena Ugren Koulas, Melina Sofocleous and Andria Michaelidou. Parallel events are organised by Dance House Lemesos, Dance House Lefkosia and Nea Kinisi.

Students and professionals share the stage in rembetiko and laïko concert

On March 12, the Musical Paintings: Rembetiko and Laïko concert will bring students from the Music Schools of Nicosia, Larnaca, Famagusta, and Limassol together on stage alongside professional musicians. Organised by the ministry of education with music producer Christos Filippou, the concert will present songs from the rembetiko and laïko repertoire.

Thoc’s New Stage presents Loula Anagnostaki play

Loula Anagnostaki’s play To You Who Are Listening To Me will be performed on March 14 in Greek with English and Turkish surtitles by Thoc’s New Stage. The play centres on nine characters in a Berlin apartment.

Alliance Française de Limassol stages European cinema music performance

On March 15, the Alliance Française de Limassol will present Les Lumières du Cinéma: France and Europe in Music, focusing on French and Francophone culture. The performance examines the relationship between music and cinematic image, featuring pianist Stavros Dritsas, baritone Kyros Patsalides, singer Vakia Stavrou and a 14-piece orchestra under the musical direction of Stavros Dritsas.

Rialto returns to theatre with Florian Zeller’s The Father

Florian Zeller’s play The Father will be presented on March 18, directed by Yiannis Leontaris and starring Stavros Louras. The performance focuses on memory and its effects.

Denis Stelmakh to perform neoclassical recital

Young pianist and composer from Russia Denis Stelmakh will present An Evening of Soulful Neoclassicism on March 19. The recital will include compositions from his five albums and works by other composers.

March closes with local theatre productions

Yannis Economides’ Broken Vein will be staged on March 20, telling the story of a middle-aged businessman facing the consequences of his mistakes and recklessness. On March 28, Thoc will present an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night.
