Rialto Theatre in Limassol announces February programme of plays, films, concerts and charity event

Limassol, Cyprus. Rialto Theatre has announced a series of cultural events in February ahead of Limassol’s carnival period. The programme includes theatre performances, award-winning short films, a classical music concert and a charity event.


Theatre programme opens with Tiago Rodrigues play

The month’s programme opens with Lovers’ Chorus by Portuguese writer and director Tiago Rodrigues, presented in Greek by Onassis Stegi on February 5 and 6. The production focuses on a couple facing a life-and-death experience.

AntiLogos Theatre presents Keffiyeh / Made in China

On February 7, AntiLogos Theatre will present Keffiyeh / Made in China by Palestinian playwright Dalia Taha. The production is directed by Eleni Anastasiou in its first Greek-language adaptation and is structured as an anthology of vignettes tracing stages of life within a war zone.

Drama International Short Film Festival screenings come to Limassol

On February 9 and 10, awarded Greek short films from the Drama International Short Film Festival will be screened in Limassol, as well as in Nicosia, Paphos and Larnaca. In Limassol, the Rialto Theatre screenings are co-organised by the department of contemporary culture, the Rialto Theatre and Limassol Cine Clubs, with free entry and English subtitles.

Cellist Mariliza Papadouri Papangelidi marks 40 years with instrument

On February 11, Mariliza Papadouri Papangelidi will present My Cello World, marking a 40-year relationship with the cello. The programme includes works by Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, Frédéric Chopin, Camille Saint-Saëns, Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, Gaspar Cassadó, Aram Khachaturian, Astor Piazzolla and Mikis Theodorakis, and will feature pianist Anita Tomasevich.

Charity event set for February 14

A charity event dedicated to children fighting cancer will take place on February 14, bringing together choirs, dancers, actors, students, educators, artists and athletes from Cyprus and abroad, including video messages. Titled Together – One Dream, One Wish, One Voice, One Hope, the event is under the direction of Stelios Michaelides, with all net proceeds donated to the association One Dream One Wish to support children and their families.

Yiorgos Tsiakkas comedy closes programme before carnival weekend

The final performance before Limassol’s main carnival weekend is Yiorgos Tsiakkas’ play Edo Leme SOS, scheduled for February 17 and 18. The comedy offers a satirical portrait of contemporary Cypriot reality and features 11 actors in a fast-paced series of comic situations.
