Moscow, Russia. Russia’s state communications regulator Roskomnadzor said on Wednesday that Telegram is still not complying with Russian laws, according to state-run news agency RIA.

Regulator statement

Roskomnadzor said Telegram remains out of compliance with Russian laws, RIA reported.

Authorities’ accusations

Russian authorities have repeatedly accused Telegram, one of the most popular messaging apps in Russia, of allowing its platform to be used for illegal and extremist content.

Telegram response

Telegram has rejected the accusations and said Russia is trying to throttle its services to force people to switch to a state-run app called MAX.
