Kyiv, Ukraine. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said it warned diplomatic missions on Wednesday to promptly evacuate staff from Kyiv in the event of a mass strike by Moscow. The ministry linked the warning to any attempt by Ukraine to disrupt Russia’s May 9 Victory Day commemorations.

In a video posted on Telegram, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the ministry “strongly urges” the authorities of other countries to treat the statement “with the utmost responsibility” and ensure the timely evacuation from Kyiv of personnel of diplomatic and other representations. She said the warning was issued “in connection with the inevitability of a retaliatory strike on Kyiv by Russia’s Armed Forces.”
