Kyiv, Ukraine. Russia launched overnight missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, killing 13 people including a 12-year-old child, injuring several dozen and damaging buildings, officials said on Thursday.
Casualties and damage reported in Kyiv
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said four people, including the child, had died and that 45 residents were injured. Ukraine’s emergency services reported the death toll in Kyiv as five.
Klitschko said the city came under another attack early on Thursday and that a drone flying very low slammed into an 18-storey building. He said rescue teams had pulled a mother and child from a building in a central district where the ground floor was badly damaged, and that missile debris hit the sixth floor of an apartment building in the central Podil district.
He also reported a large fire in a building in a northern district of the capital, that four emergency medical workers were injured, and that debris fell in several locations. Photos posted online showed fires burning and smoke billowing.
Odesa and Dnipro report deaths and injuries
Seven people were killed and 11 injured in missile and drone attacks in the southern city of Odesa, according to the head of the local military administration.
In Dnipro, Regional Governor Oleksandr Ganzha said two people were killed and 27 injured, and posted pictures showing residential buildings ablaze. Serhiy Lysak wrote on Telegram that the city came under several waves of missile and drone attacks, reporting damage to infrastructure facilities and a residential building.
