Strovolos, Cyprus. A forgotten saucepan left on the hob caused a fire in the ground floor of a two-storey home in Strovolos, police said on Sunday. The fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen, while heat and smoke affected the entire interior of the home.
Fire response
Fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said two fire engines were dispatched to extinguish the flames.
Service activity
In the 24 hours until Sunday morning, the fire service responded to 32 calls, including 16 fires and two prank calls.
Weekly figures
During the last week, the service responded to 235 calls, including 93 urban fires, 25 rural fires, three traffic accidents, 23 rescues, 67 other incidents involving assistance to the public, and 24 prank calls.
